Introducing Hip Hop Kids® for Children Aged 6-12

Have you ever experienced the fun and liberation of adult street dance classes? Or taken a pre-school child to a fun, energetic and colourful Hip Hop Tots® session? Then you might have wondered if there was anything out there for older children; well, there is now.

Hip Hop Kids® provide hip-hop and street dance sessions for 6-12 year olds, spanning the gap from primary school reception age to secondary school. It can be difficult to find healthy activities that get primary school children out of the house, particularly given the popularity of computer games, but Hip Hop Kids appeals to another powerful drive – the desire to look cool and impress classmates through skillful and stylish dance moves. Once they have picked up a few funky moves from a Hip Hop Kids session, many children get bitten by the bug and can’t wait to learn even more.

Building Dance Skills for Life

For younger children, Hip Hop Kids® builds on the foundations laid down with Hip Hop Tots® and takes it up another level by introducing more varied and complex choreography. By the time they have reached their teenage years, Hip Hop Kids students will have a solid skill base from which to progress as far as their dreams can take them.

Don’t worry if your child has never danced before though; the Hip Hop Kids® programme is designed to ease children of any ability level into the popular world of street dance and support them to develop their co-ordination, timing, communication and dance vocabulary.

Helping Children to Blossom

Just as rewarding as seeing children progress with their dance skills is watching them blossom as individuals. Unlike more formal dance styles, hip-hop and street dance encourages and rewards creativity and individuality, for both boys and girls. As children learn that it’s OK to break the mould and express their individual style they will develop an inner self-confidence and self-awareness that will support them through the rest of their school lives and beyond. This healthy respect for individuality is balanced with an awareness of the importance of teamwork and togetherness, helping children to develop strong social skills too.

Even More Opportunities for Instructors and Dance Studios

Hip Hop Tots® has been revitalising tired activity centres and frustrated dance teachers across the country by giving activity-hungry parents a reason to bring their pre-school children to dance and activity sessions. Now Hip Hop Kids® offers a route into the primary school and pre-teen dance markets, giving dance studios and instructors even more flexibility in schedule planning and an ideal pathway to providing a consistent whole family street dance solution.
